Rep. Tulsi Gabbard On America’s Role In The World

Rep. Tulsi Gabbard On America’s Role In The World

>>Stephen: WELCOME BACK,
EVERYBODY! FOLKS, MY NEXT GUEST IS A
REPRESENTATIVE FROM HAWAII WHO IS RUNNING FOR PRESIDENT OF THE
UNITED STATES. PLEASE WELCOME, CONGRESSWOMAN
TULSI GABBARD! ( CHEERS AND APPLAUSE )
( BAND PLAYING ) ( CHEERS AND APPLAUSE )
( BAND PLAYING )>>Stephen: NOW, FOR THOSE OF
YOU WHO DON’T KNOW YOU, WHO ARE YOU?>>MY NAME IS TULSI GABBARD.>>Stephen: MM-HMM. I GREW UP IN HAWAII, AND I
REPRESENT HAWAII NOW IN CONGRESS FOR OVER SIX YEARS. I’M A SOLDIER. I SERVE IN THE ARMY NATIONAL
GUARD, CURRENTLY A MAJOR. DEPLOYED TWICE TO THE MIDDLE
EAST. IN CONGRESS, SERVE IN THE ARMED
SERVICES FOREIGN AFFAIRS AND ARMED SERVICES COMMITTEE
THROUGHOUT THE TIME I HAVE BEEN THERE. FROM A YOUNG AGE, I GREW TO
UNDERSTAND HOW IMPORTANT SERVICE IS. UNDERSTANDING THAT, AS LONG AS
WE TRY TO LIVE OUR LIVES IN A WAY THAT HAS A POSITIVE IMPACT
ON OTHER PEOPLE, THEN WE CAN REALLY BE HAPPY, SO THAT’S WHAT
I’VE TRIED TO DO THROUGHOUT MY LIFE. ( APPLAUSE )
>>Stephen: AND HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN A CONGRESSWOMAN?>>I WAS FIRST ELECTED IN 2012
TO THE UNITED STATES CONGRESS. I RAN FOR STATE HOUSE OF
REPRESENTATIVES IN HAWAII WHEN I WAS 21 YEARS OLD, JUST A FEW
YEARS AGO.>>Stephen: AND YOU WERE
ELECTED.>>I WAS ELECTED.>>Stephen: THE YOUNGEST STATE
REPRESENTATIVE IN HAWAII.>>YEAH.>>Stephen: WHAT WAS YOUR
MOTIVATION? WHY DO YOU WANT TO BE PRESIDENT
OF THE UNITED STATES?>>BECAUSE AS A SOLDIER, I KNOW
THE COST OF WAR. AND THE MOST IMPORTANT JOB THAT
THE PRESIDENT HAS IS TO BE COMMANDER-IN-CHIEF.>>Stephen: DO YOU THINK THE
IRAQ WAR WAS WORTH IT?>>NO
( APPLAUSE )>>Stephen: DO YOU THINK THAT
OUR INVOLVEMENT IN SYRIA HAS BEEN WORTH IT?>>NO. ( APPLAUSE )
>>Stephen: DO YOU BELIEVE THAT I.S.I.S. COULD HAVE BEEN
DEFEATED WITHOUT OUR INVOLVEMENT AND OUR SUPPORT OF THE LOCAL
TROOPS THERE?>>THERE ARE TWO THINGS WE NEED
TO ADDRESS IN SYRIA — ONE IS A REGIME CHANGE WAR FIRST LAUNCHED
BY THE UNITED STATES IN 2011 COVERTLY LED BY THE C.I.A., THAT
IS A REGIME CHANGE WHERE IT HAS CONTINUED OVER THE YEARS THAT
HAS INCREASED THE SUFFERING OF THE SYRIAN PEOPLE AND
STRENGTHENED TERRORIST GROUPS LIKE AL QUAIDA AND I.S.I.S. BECAUSE THE C.I.A. WAS USING
AMERICAN TAXPAYER DOLLARS TO PROVIDE ARMS AND TRAINING
EQUIPMENT TO THESE TERRORIST GROUPS TO GET THEM TO OVERTHROW
THE GOVERNMENT. SO THAT IS A REGIME CHANGE WAR
THAT WE SHOULD NOT HAVE BEEN WAGING.>>Stephen: BUT IF IT’S
SOMEBODY LIKE BASHAR AL-ASSAD WHO GASES HIS OWN PEOPLE OR
ENGAGES IN WAR CRIMES AGAINST HIS OWN PEOPLE, SHOULD THE
UNITED STATES NOT BE INVOLVED?>>THE UNITED STATES SHOULD NOT
BE INTERVENING TO OVERTHROW THESE DICTATORS AND REGIMES THAT
WE DON’T LIKE, LIKE ASSAD, LIKE SADDAM HUSSEIN, LIKE GADHAFI,
AND LIKE KIM JONG UN. THERE ARE BAD PEOPLE IN THE
WORLD, BUT HISTORY HAS SHOWN US THAT EVERY TIME THE UNITED
STATES GOES IN AND TOPPLES THESE DICTATORS WE DON’T LIKE, TRYING
TO ACT LIKE THE WORLD’S POLICE, WE END UP INCREASING THE
SUFFERING OF THE PEOPLE IN THESE COUNTRIES, WE END UP CAUSING
LOSS OF LIVES, BOTH AMERICAN AND PEOPLE IN THESE COUNTRIES, WE
END UP UNDERMINING OUR OWN SECURITY, TO SPEAK OF THE
TRILLIONS OF DOLLARS OF TAX MONEY SPENT ON THESE WARS THAT
WE NEED TO BE USING RIGHT HERE AT HOME. ( CHEERS AND APPLAUSE )
>>Stephen: I WOULD AGREE EVEN FROM MY LIMITED KNOWLEDGE OF
THIS THAT AMERICAN INTERVENTIONISM HAS UNINTENDED
BLOWBACK OFTEN BOTH FOR THE UNITED STATES AND FOR THE PEOPLE
WHO WE’RE TRYING TO HELP. BUT YOU GOT HEAT FOR MEETING
WITH BASHAR AL-ASSAD. DO YOU NOT CONSIDER HIM A WAR
CRIMINAL? WHY DID YOU MEET WITH THAT MAN?>>IN THE PURSUIT OF PEACE AND
SECURITY. IF WE ARE NOT WILLING TO MEET
WITH ADVERSARIES, POTENTIAL ADVERSARIES IN THE PURSUIT OF
PEACE AND SECURITY, THE ONLY ALTERNATIVE IS MORE WAR. THAT’S WHY IT TOOK THAT MEETING
WITH ASSAD, IN PURSUIT OF PEACE AND SECURITY.>>Stephen: DO YOU BELIEVE HE
GASSED HIS OWN PEOPLE OR COMMITTED ATROCITIES AGAINST HIS
OWN PEOPLE?>>YES, REPORTS HAVE SHOWN
THAT’S A FACT.>>Stephen: SO YOU BELIEVE IN
THOSE INTELLIGENCE REPORTS. BECAUSE I HEARD YOU DIDN’T.>>NO, THAT’S NOT TRUE. BUT THAT’S NOT REALLY THE POINT
HERE. WE KNOW THE REPORTS HAVE SHOWN
CHEMICAL WEAPONS ATTACKS HAVE BEEN USED BY BOTH THE SYRIAN
GOVERNMENT AS WELL AS BY THE TERRORIST GROUPS WHO ARE
FIGHTING IN SYRIA. THE REAL QUESTION HERE THAT IS
IMPORTANT FOR US THE AMERICAN PEOPLE AND OUR GOVERNMENT IS HOW
DESTRUCTIVE THESE REGIME CHANGE WARS ARE ON THE PEOPLE IN THE
COUNTRIES WHERE WE ARE SUPPOSEDLY TRYING TO HELP THEM,
AS WELL AS HOW DESTRUCTIVE THEY ARE TO US, THE AMERICAN PEOPLE
HERE AT HOME BOTH FROM A SECURITY PERSPECTIVE, AND THE
FACT THAT WE DON’T HAVE ENOUGH MONEY TO PAY FOR HEALTH CARE FOR
EVERYONE, WE DON’T HAVE ENOUGH MONEY TO PAY FOR EDUCATION, TO
REBUILD OUR INFRASTRUCTURE, THE URURGENT NEEDS OUR PEOPLE NEED A
HOME.>>Stephen: I DON’T KNOW IF
AMERICA SHOULD BE THE POLICEMAN AT HOME.>>IT IS MY OPINION WE SHOULD
NOT BE.>>Stephen: IF WE ARE NOT,
NATURE ABHORS A VACUUM, AND IF WE ARE NOT INVOLVED IN
INTERNATIONAL CONFLICTS OR TRYING TO QUELL INTERNATIONAL
CONFLICTS, CERTAINLY THE RUSSIANS AND THE CHINESE WILL
FILL THAT VACUUM AND WE WILL STEP AWAY FROM THE WORLD STAGE
IN A SIGNIFICANT WAY THAT MIGHT DESTABILIZE THE WORLD BECAUSE
THE UNITED STATES, HOWEVER FLAWED, IS A FORCE FOR GOOD IN
THE WORLD, IN MY OPINION. WOULD YOU AGREE WITH THAT?>>I DO AGREE WITH THAT. MY POINT IS THAT —
( APPLAUSE ) — IN ORDER TO BE A FORCE FOR
GOOD, WE MUST ACTUALLY DO GOOD. THE CONSEQUENCES OF THESE REGIME
CHANGE WAR POLICIES HAS BEEN HORRIBLE. IT HAS BEEN COMPLETELY THE
OPPOSITE OF THAT INTENTION, OF THAT GOOD THAT THE UNITED STATES
SHOULD BE STANDING FOR. SO I DON’T ADVOCATE FOR ICE
ISOLATIONISM. I’M TALKING ABOUT MAKING SURE WE
HAVE RELATIONSHIPS WITH OTHER COUNTRIES BASED ON COOPERATION,
NOT CONFLICTS AND THAT WE’RE THINKING THROUGH AND EXERCISING
FORESIGHT ON THE DECISIONS THAT WE’RE MAKING AND UNDERSTANDING
WHAT THOSE CONSEQUENCES ARE.>>Stephen: YOU’VE GOTTEN SOME
FANS IN THE TRUMP SUPPORTER WORLD, DAVID DUKE, STEVE BANNON
AND MATT GATES. WHAT DO YOU MAKE OF HOW MUCH
THEY LIKE YOU?>>YOU SHOULD ASK THEM. LOOK, I HAVE DENOUNCED STRONGLY
TIME AND AGAIN THE WHITE NATIONALIST VIEWS OF DAVID DUKE
AND RACIST AND BIGOTED VIEWS OF PEOPLE WHO ARE SPEWING HATRED
AND EVEN VIOLENCE. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE AND
SOMETHING WE SHOULD ALL STAND UP AND CONDEMN.>>Stephen: LAST QUESTION
BECAUSE WE’VE GOT TO GO HERE, HOW MANY LESSONS WILL IT TAKE
JOHN POJON ANDI TO LEARN TO SURF>>HAVE YOU EVER BEEN BEFORE?>>Stephen: I HAVE NEVER
SURFED.>>I THINK THE FIRST DAY WE CAN
DO IT.>>Stephen: THANK YOU SO MUCH. THANK YOU SO MUCH.>>Stephen: CONGRESSWOMAN
TULSI GABBARD, EVERYBODY!

  1. Native Americans first leprechaun Colbert go back to bogland Ireland where you belong and take Trump with you to bonny Wee Scottish hylands you Europeans not welcomed in the Americas.

  2. From what I have seen of Tulsi this far she stands one hundred miles above and beyond ALL of the rest of the candidates so far.

  3. Im really starting to fall for Tulsi Gabbard. Im a republican and voted for Trump but I am extremely impressed with how she handles herself. Shes served our country and seems to be legitmately passionate about making genuine change. The biggest thing is that she isnt owned by the establishment and that's also what made me vote for Trump.

  4. Articulate the truth and wake up the many. Speak to those that want to hear, and the hearts of the people will follow.

  5. Jesus Christ! I’m not American and I’m voting Tulsi! She’s eloquent, calm, and makes logic sense on her points! Which actually makes for opposing ideas to be presented in likewise fashion. No screaming, no pandering, no isms and what not. Reason. Logic.

  6. US don't need to act like the police of the world. Use that money to take care of your own cityzen .. i've been to many place in the USA and let me tell you that some part is really like living in a third world country. Take care of your Millions of homeless.

  7. Have you noticed that Tulsi Gabbard’s banner picture on her twitter account (featuring her posing with a large crowd of people in a political advertorial pose) does not have a single black person in it? Virtually every race is represented in her banner picture except black people. This was clearly a calculated attempt by her and her campaign to pander to white racists. Same thing with her targeted and vicious attack on Kamala Harris. It is all part of a plan by the establishment to use a hot-looking Hispanic slut to lure racist white males who might be opposed to illegal (Mexican) immigration into being in favor of it. This is clearly what it is. Is it an accident that on the very first presidential election in America’s history in which illegal immigration and the Mexican border is the major issue, all of a sudden the Democratic establishment pushes forward a Hispanic slut with a pretty face and, on top of that, has her target and attack the one black female politician on the stage? Is that just an accident? Is this not clear pandering to racists? And these are the same disgusting bastards hypocritically accusing Trump of ‘pandering to racists’.

  8. She seems too clever to be President. I doubt if her mutterings will translate across the intellectual wasteland that is the American electorate. She needs to concentrate on those three word messages that Trump used to such devastating purpose last time. Build the Wall. Drain the Swamp… Etc. Etc. It's the only language they understand….

  9. Stephen Colbert
has become a tool for the establishment. I can't believe he asked her military industrial complex talking points. Shame on Colbert, he let himself become a puppet.

  10. Total respect for Tulsi.

Colbert disappointed big time. As it's now known Assad regime was not involved in the gas attack. It was staged. Colbert is knowingly spreading lies and propaganda.

  11. "do you believe he gassed his own people?"
CIA&Mossad did this I do beleive,
    you f*cking bastard son of a b*tch!

  12. Well I hope she feels the same way about the undocumented forcing their way in our country. USA maybe responsable in many ways for the dysfunction in South America but this is today & now. Focus on American citizens & CHILDREN.

  13. It is not hard to spot a Republican . If they are not in church raping kids they are in school's shooting them.

  14. I like her persona, but David Duke knows his politicians, and he doesn't give his endorsements lightly to Tulsi, so what's with that?! Trump did say those words too. "I denounce". My question is, of all the others, why did he pick Tulsi? It is very troubling and bothersome, of Duke's endorsement. There is something that isn't made clear to us yet. Tulsi so far, is the only candidate in pictures with an individual or two from Trump's camp. People, be very wary!! Don't make another horrible mistake!

  15. Hmm… The Dems have realized the noisy disrespectful type like AOC are just a joke. Now they are packing it in a more sophisticated sounding speakerbox. The Rightwing of the world is looking on. America… you have the obligation to be a great nation and an example of justice and peace to the world and those living in you and don't believe that are American only on paper, but have nothing of the Spirit of the true West upon which the USA was founded… When shitholes take countries over and make their own people suffer, you have the responsibility fix it by any means necessary America. Do not be fooled by this woman, she is also on the agenda to weaken the military power of the USA. Long live Liberty, Peace and Justice.

  16. THE FAKE LAY AROUND HER NECK IS A SHIELD SAYING, "DON'T CRITICIZE ME CAUSE I'M SUPPOSED TO BE HAWAIIAN". IT'S HER PROTECTIVE LAY. REALLY PATHETIC. SHE'S NOT HAWAIIAN, SHE'S SOMOAN AND IS PLAYING THE HAWAIIAN GIMMICK. SHE'S NOT A SOLIDER EITHER. SHE WAS A NURSE IN THE BACKGROUND, NOT RISKING HER LIFE. SHE'S JUST GRANDSTANDING.

  17. US wars of intervention since 9/11 have resulted in at least a quarter of a million civilian casualties according to a Brown University study. Not to mention all the people traumatized, injured and tortured during the wars. How is this a force for good, Mr. Colbert?
    https://watson.brown.edu/costsofwar/costs/human/civilians

  18. Nothing like some old fashioned common sense. This woman will gain momentum and be a player when it is all said and done. Tulsi 2020

  19. I really like Colbert but it was a very lazy interview. Every time Gabbard is interviewed she's asked the same questions. Maybe it's an attempt to minimize her but she has a lot more to offer than repeatedly correcting the same old misinformation about her. But she handles it very well.

  20. USA is creating conflicts. It's not about gas mass murdering and regime changes. It's about putting its big hands on the oil and making money with war. IMHO Does she consider that?

  21. I don't want Tulsi Gabbard to be the nominee. Why?
    1. Driven by religious extremism, she irrationally championed denying GLBT people civil rights. Her religious views called for killing gay people for no reason. Her religion will cause her to make other irrational decisions.
    2. She is a war criminal. She volunteered to aid and abet the killing of children and civilians in Afghanistan. Afghanistan did not attack the USA. The USA attacked Afghanistan in an illegal first strike. What motivated her to do that? It was not to defend the USA. Perhaps it was sadism, bigotry, racism, groupthink, family pressure. There is no acceptable motive.
    3. She simultaneously brags about her military service and presents herself as an anti-war candidate. That does not add up.
    4. She is more right-wing than the average Democrat.
    5. She polling less than 1% among the Democratic candidates. There is no evidence she could beat Trump. This is not a horse to bet on.

  22. Never realized you were a shill for the establishment Stephen…but thanks for playing. won't be watching you anymore sir.

  23. “If our Founding Fathers wanted us to care about the rest of the world, they wouldn't have declared their independence from it.” – Stephen Colbert

  24. Tulsi Gabbard….people need to see who she truly is …..my question is why is she so secretive about the meeting she had with Bashar al-Assad, true we shouldn't be the world policeman, but we shouldn't praise dictator either,…..she said she met with Al-Assad in pursuit of peace, that's the job of the Secretary of State which was Hillary Clinton at the time, she was a Congress woman, at the time she did this…..Listen who support's her, and you should wonder why the like's of the Grand Dragon of the KKK David duke supports her, she is Trump in democratic clothing….sitting down with dictator dose not make a foreign policy expert…we all know what Dictator do, they kill innocent people, so what did she accomplish by her meeting with Al-Assad, nothing but make the United States look weak……..for you stupid people that think she is great, let me simply it for you, it like showing the opposite team the next play your about to execute…..

  25. His mood is actually respectful to her, that's why I feel he likely asked her about the fans in the trump world not to make her look bad but give her a chance on national tv to respond in defence. That was actually a good thing he did. Watch her reaction, she is totally cool with the question. He is cool.

  26. She is correct about regime change since 1893 and how wrong American Military interfered without constitutional rights.

  27. She's the American version of our amazing Prime Minister in New Zealand – Jacinda Ardern. The world needs more leaders like those two🇳🇿💙🇳🇿💙

  28. looool unbelievable.. oh wait it Is… Americans find it hard to swallow the pill of admitting that war is "not worth it"…. the hesitation to clap was comical

  29. Twitter, Google, YouTube and Facebook are suppressing Tulsi posts (by and about her). I think we can help get the message out by sharing to our accounts on those platforms. In the words of Blutto…who's with me? 😁

  30. No, Colbert. You shouldn't invade other people's countries simply because you want their oil. Stop lying that you're morally righteous. The US sends its troops to die to benefit Exxon et al.

  31. The problem for Tulsi Gabbard is that she is to smart for the Democratic party. That is why they will not promote her. She won't let them manipulate her.

  32. Oh Steven… We love you so. And you're so funny. The funniest thing you said was how the United States is a stabilizing Force for the rest of the world. I'm still laughing about that one. Absolutely hilarious my boy!

  33. Gabbard's run in this Democrat primary race puts me in mind of Ron Paul's runs in the GOP- someone speaking wisdom to a bunch of self contradictory simpletons.

"How dare the Russians use the internet in an attempt to manipulate American public opinion and thus the outcomes of certain elections! It is an attack on our sovereignty! Oh, and we should spend lots of money and lives to overthrow (whether covertly or overtly) foreign governments we don't like!"
Colbert plays the role of a neocon mouthpiece. And he is cowardly in the process. He says he doesn't know if we should be the world's police force (how brave) then proceeds to give the standard reasoning of the warmongers – essentially saying we need to be the world's police force. No one who likes Trump needs to worry about Gabbard in the general election. In my experience, Democrats are generally too stupid to vote for someone like her in any significant numbers. Their political thinking generally doesn't go any deeper than bumper sticker slogans. Trump won by swaying a large segment of voters who are sick of business as usual in D.C. If Gabbard had been in the general instead of Hillary, we would like already have our first female president.

  34. I want to support her so much!!! But… when someone can help they should. And she is only making an argument that the us is not capable or willing to help others. Sad

  35. That was a pathetic interview. Ive lost all respect for Colbert. Ive watched him since he took over for John Stewart. I’ll never watch his show again.

  36. Yeah Colbert, Tulsi is secretly a white supremacist cuz David Fucking Duke liked some random anti-war tweet she tweeted a few years ago. What about Assad too? Right, Colbert? I'm assuming that bullshit is next.

  37. I laughed when Colbert said he believes the US is “a force for good” until I realized he was serious…🤦‍♂️🤣

  38. Can you imagine Tulsi debating small hands donnie? It would be donnie coming into a fight with a knife and Tulsi having a SAW.

  39. Calling on fellow Army Veteran's who support our sister Tulsi to boycott her squelcher's to include the DNC. Pass it on.

  40. Another painful example of those who are selling out and lacking integrity. Big bummer as I liked Colbert in the past. The MSM continues to show its true colors through their smears of Tulsi. Perhaps the silver lining is that as they continue to blatantly expose themselves, we viewers are now becoming wildly conscious of it and waking up. Hard to smear a vet working towards peace. #tulsi2020

  41. Stephen was supporting genocide the whole time, and we did not know.
Apparently, he is like,”the war victims don’t look like me or belong to my church.
He was sounding like a terrorist.

  42. I have literally more respect for dogshit on the street THAN THIS DISGUSTING PUKE STEPHEN COLBERT, especially for the past 4 years now. Dogshit in a bag is less offensive and disgusting. This stupid demented jerkoff Stephen TDS Colbert belongs in CNN mental ward or MSNBC with the rest of the pathetic loser hacks and idiots. And the lame dopey talking points, against Tulsi.

  43. Colbert showing his true colors. He's a mouthpiece for the liberal, socialist Democrats. he's part of the elites that wants to take your freedoms.

  44. she's spot on about leaving a mess by toppling dictators & more people at the ground level dying in those places

  45. this is sad this woman is an American hero she could have done great things for this country I don't care if she's a Democrat or Republican I'm a trump supporter but not because it's Republican I could care less about that but this lady she really could have done good things and she's chosen to suck off the Hillary Clinton tip and it's just sad and it really is

  46. Another piece of Stephen Colbert's soul…you can see it and he feels it leaving with each question…with remorse.

  47. Я сам очень правых взглядов (да, еще и русский), а она скорее всего член демократической партии. То есть чуждый моим взглядам политик, но она так твердо и однозначно отвечает на вопросы, не использует типичный уловки бюрократов… она мне нравится.

  48. Kamala is a liar and a manipulator who panders to minorities
Warren is a Fake Bernie Sanders who piggy backs off his legacy that she didn’t support 4 years ago
Gillibrand is a Wall Street Puppet
Williamson does not have enough experience in a public office, needless to say Foreign Policy
Tulsi Gabbard is the one and only woman running who deserves to be the nominee and go down in history as the first female President.

  49. According to Hinduism, God is in the form of energy and this energy is in the form of soul in humans and living beings. When someone dies, this soul (energy) goes to the one who is born. Heaven and hell have been called happiness and sorrow, which are found according to their deeds. That spirit (energy) can be felt through spirituality. According to today's scientific rules, energy is neither created nor destroyed. The same rule also applies in Hinduism.

  50. really, assad is a criminal ?? – the Demons of Europe kidnapped afrikans from the richest continent on the planet to use as target practice,.. AMERICA IS THE MOST TERRORIST ORGANIZATIONS ON THE PLANET, B A R N O N E

  51. Too bad the Deep State wants oil.  And they use the military to topple gov'ts to get that oil.  Not to be the World's policeman.
