THE RED CROSS WILL BE TRAINING PROSPECTIVE VOLUNTEERS ACROSS THE TREASURE COAST. JOINING US NOW IS ROBIN NUNLEY EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF THE PALM BEACH CHAPTER AND A RED CROSS VOLUNTEER. SO ROBIN TELL US A LITTLE BIT ABOUT THESE TRAINING SESSIONS. >> THIS IS OUR ANNUAL EVENT THAT ALLOWS PROSPECTIVE VOLUNTEERS TO COMPLETE THE BASIC STEPS FOR BECOMING A RED CROSS VOLUNTEER IN ONE DAY. WE WILL COVER THE FULL CYCLE OF FILTERING OPERATIONS INCLUDING OPENING AND CLOSING A SHELTER. ERIN: WHY DID YOU DECIDE TO DO THIS? >> 20 YEARS AGO I SAW A PLANE CRASH AND THAT INSPIRED ME TO HELP THE PEOPLE AND FAMILIES OF THOSE WHO WERE MISSING. MARK: YOU WERE THE BOOTS ON THE GROUND TO HELP THESE FOLKS. WHAT WAS THE EXPERIENCE LIKE? IT'S BEEN AN AMAZING EXPERIENCE. I HAVE HELPED WITH WILDFIRES, TORNADOES, HURRICANES. RIGHT DOWN TO A SINGLE FAMILY HOUSE FIRE. MARK YOUR VOLUNTEERS ARE THE FIRST ONES TO HELP PEOPLE. ANY SORT OF SITUATION. MASSIVE FLOODING. WHAT DOES IT TAKE TO BE A VOLUNTEER? IT JUST TAKES A DESIRE TO WANT TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE AND HELP PEOPLE IN THEIR TIME OF NEED. MARK: DO YOU HAVE ANY ADVICE? >> BE FLEXIBLE AS YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT TOMORROW IS GOING TO GIVE. IT COULD BE A COMMITMENT OF A COUPLE OF HOURS A WEEK. IT COULD BE A COMMITMENT OF 40 HOURS A WEEK. IT DEPENDS ON WHAT YOU WANT TO DO AND HOW MUCH TIME YOU HAVE TO GIVE.
