Madison Lockett on Volunteering

my name is Madison Lockett I'm an IR G major and I'm graduating in May of 2021 I'm a student volunteer for young life which I'm a leader for so I go out hang out with teenagers in high school volunteer my time and energy and all that stuff with them and then I'm also volunteer for Model UN on campus which is a student-run organization and we host conferences for high schoolers here as a freshman I started volunteering with young life as a leader and I really loved that because it gave me a community outside of academics and people who were also working towards common goals that weren't just about school your volunteering then that involves other people and there's a sense of teamwork and collaboration in that that motivates you to be even more involved and put more skin in the game to build stronger relationships with others really my freshman fall I didn't volunteer a lot and it's kind of miserable if you're just focused on yourself and your life in school and it seems overwhelming and volunteering is one of the few ways that really hope to escape that and help you have an impact and you see how what you do really really matters and I think that can be encouraging like no other organization that you do for personal fulfilment is so I totally recommend it
