ENG SUBS ISIS: Ideology and strategy/Идеология и стратегия ИГИЛ

– Hello. Politicians and analysts from all
over the world are discussing methodology and goals of the terrorists from the international terrorist
group named Islamic State. also known as ISIS or Daish. Robert Caplan, famous American
journalist and advisor to US intelligence called ISIS a creation of anarchy which began after falling apart of
secular regime of Saddam Hussein in Iraq. However, he doesn’t say
what should we do now? But he mentions somehow that destroying of the governments of Syria, Iran
and Russia as a result of fighting ISIS would be in America’s interests. And if you look what preceded
creation of this terrorist organization, it becomes obvious that it was
America who created this monster, who cares, on purpose or not, it’s a result of Washington’s
strategic mistakes in Middle East. During the occupation of
Iraq which started in 2003, a large camp was set up
near the border with Kuwait for the former servicemen
of Saddam Hussein army and partizans from Iraq’s underground which included radical Islamists,
also militants of al-Qaeda. The camp itself was set on a territory where a special TV, broadcasting anti-Iranian
propaganda used to be based. And it was named after the NYC
firefighter Ronald Bucca who died on September 11th, 2001. This prison facility was filling up real quick. And after the Abu-Ghraib prison scandal, where American military were
torturing captive Iraqi soldiers, most of the prisoners were
transferred to the Bucca camp. Total amount of prisoners there was not less than 100,000 people. In May 2009 most of them
were released. And, according to then-head of Iraqi police
Saad Abbas Mahmood, 90% of the released militants
took weapon in their hands again. He was warning that this was
such a big and serious problem that Iraqi government simply doesn’t
realize danger they’ll face in the future. This very camp became a birth
place of the Islamic State. Not only the self-proclaimed
Caliph Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi was kept here for 5 years, but also other high commanders
of this terrorist organization: his right-hand Abu Muslim al-Turkmani, main ideologist of ISIS Haji Bakr, who was preaching while
being in the camp already, Abu Kasim, who became a leader of
all foreign mercenaries and many others. In general, Bucca camp became
a perfect place for study and building social connections
between radicals, many of whom were
dreaming to eliminate USA. In a meanwhile, American military
were warning about coming problems, which included growing sectary sentiment and even implementing Sharia
laws among the prisoners. However, radicalization and creating
basis for the future cooperation between future ISIS members continued to develop under the
supervision of the American military. By the time civil conflict in Syria and
political conflict in Iraq were caused, terrorists saw that the window
of opportunities is getting wide open. In the beginning they were actively
cooperating with Americans themselves. as “moderate opposition”. The very Abu Bakr was
meeting senator McCain. And the material help, from
the Toyota cars to the munition was sent to the ISIS depots. However, the phenomenon of this organization
is more complicated than it looks at first. The mistake of many persons who
make decisions on ISIS issue that they compare it with the precessors, other terrorist organizations like al-Qaeda or radical
nationalistic movements which want to overthrow a government. Even if we compare it with
the Salafist groups, there is a critical difference which became a basis
for creating ISIS. Al-Qaeda’s goal, for instance,
was to change the world and made America its target
as the source of Evil. In the first place,
al-Qaeda’s strategy was to drive USA out of the
greater Middle East region. Muslims were the target
audience of Bin Laden. And after a while, al-Qaeda
became a world-known brend. But many of those who
supported al-Qaeda at first, were getting disappointed in it
after another terrorist attack where innocent Muslims were killed. This also caused disputes
inside the organization, which consisted of the internal,
pretty closed, core more wide external ring of the followers, which were sent to missions, as well as young fanatics recruited
through their networks. Messages to the external
world were infrequent and media technologies
were primitive. However, it was financed via a central body which was distributing
funds to the local units. Islamic State had a different
structure from the beginning as this organization was created from
different groups as a result of consensus. Besides the network structure, they tried almost immediately
to create a quasi-state, i.e. control over a certain territory and even providing social services to people. While al-Qaeda acted as a conspiracy, with the single attacks and blowing up
objects linked to USA or its allies, ISIS began practically
a conventional war, with the use of military
vehicles, attributes and symbols. This creates not only a
problem how to resist them, but a certain legal dilemma too. Normally, it’s special security and police
forces who are fighting terrorists, while fighting in a war is the army thing. Difference with the
counter-terrorist activities, where you need not only to prevent but also to prove connection
to the terrorist acts, is a different role, a war
plays by another rules: people from the enemy side are killed
simply because of their status, no matter if they were
involved in violence or not. Uniform and marking give
enough rights to kill if the conflict sides are in a state of war. ISIS is also using media
technologies quite effectively, decorating their messages
in the exalted way and succesfully exploiting
wide range of feelings of their potential followers: feeling of social fairness, old idea of the own
country for Muslims in the times of their deep
condemnation by the West, primitive and superficial explanation
for lazy and uneducated people all this together – helps to
achieve significant effect. That’s why ISIS manages to cover
quickly several target groups at once. middle-class jihadists, idealists, youth, excited by the cult of death, sectary fanatics, criminals and losers who found in ISIS
a place to prove themselves. All of them are joining forces
in this terrorist organization. Eventhough is was based on Jamaat idea, which was used earlier by other
terrorists from Salafist organizations, the core of ISIS ideology is eschatology. If we take as a stand point
that we are in the end of times, then all crimes committed by ISIS terrorists are the insignificant events
in compare to the eternity. This is practically the end of history
declared by Fransis Fukuyama, but in somewhat different, sectarian way. But weren’t there other historical precedents
of expecting the end of the world before? Huns invasion in Europe, plague, appearance of Protestantism
and many other events. For instance, abolishment by tsar Peter I of the patriarchate in
Russian Orthodox church was considered a sign
of the end of the world. However, the concept of the end of the world is closely tied to the world religions
and is their integral part. The goals of ISIS are amazingly
close to those of the globalists: elimination of the secular
states of the modern era as well as the governements
obtaining religious power. It’s not a coincidence, that terrorists
are threatening not only Egypt which is ruled by secular military, but also the Shia Iran
and even Saudi Arabia and make statements that they
plan to destroy in Mecca a relic sacred for any Muslim: Kaaba. While Wall Street and
transnational corporations which are the followers of Trotskyism, are following the liberal and capitalist logics by wiping off the national identity, ISIS is doing practically the same,
but in the most cruel way, creating a new identity and
a new pseudo-state. Other key element of the ISIS ideology is the constant use of the term “takfir”, which means “infidels” in Islam. Bin Laden himself, used to be
very careful using this term. But ISIS terrorists are using it constantly and not only towards
the followers of other religions but even towards the Muslims
who aren’t supporting them. And useful idiots, from
the newly rectruited, are claiming ISIS ideas
to be the absolute truth to justify themselves as well as to
continue spreading of ISIS propaganda. So, in general, ISIS is a mixture
of takfirists and Kharijites, i.e. those who practice killing
their political opponents and they believe that the
majority of the Muslim leaders and regular Muslims deviated from Islam. However, the most relevant issue today is developing a methodology
of fighting ISIS terrorists. Obviously, the preventive
measures taken in France aren’t a proper response to this threat. While the goal of the terrorists from the
Modern era was threatening population and forcing governments to compromise
or even overthrowing them, the takfirists aren’t making any demands. They are simply murdering, seeing
the world in black and white, where anybody who is not on
their side, is a mortal enemy. And even the massive strikes at
infrastructure in Iraq and Syria can’t solve the problem completely. ISIS leaders don’t have any
permanent headquarters. Active militants are constantly on
the move and mixed with civilians. And ISIS members don’t really need
a loyalty of the local population. It’s not a coincidence, that
American military stated earlier that a classic plan of
Warden’s Five Strategic Rings which was tested by
American airforces earlier in Iraq, Yugoslavia and other countries
fallen under Washington’s aggression doesn’t work against ISIS. Ideology is the brains and
the heart of the Islamic State. And only finding of the
weak points and fallacies and explaining them from the
Islamic tradition standpoint in the modern times can drive ISIS to a crisis
and falling apart. Counter-propaganda isn’t an easy job, as the unmasking it often
looks as justifying yourself and therefore isn’t trusted. Moreover, larger amount of
qualified specialists is required. In Twitter only over 10,000 accounts
linked to ISIS were discovered, It means that an appropriate network of
the opponents needs to be created, instead of simply blocking of the
terrorists blogs in social media. International law is another field where clarification is needed. Since the unipolar hegemony of the U.S. wasn’t able to solve the
problem of bloody conflicts, it’s obvious that a multipolar
system has to be created, where countries have clear
areas of their responsibility. But even then the question remains open: what should be done with the
predecessors which were the reason of current terrorists
organizations being born: with the United States of America? Goodbye.
