    Much Love T.McKenna πŸ™πŸ‘€

  2. A.) Love McKenna
B.)find it ironic he says culture and ideology is not your friend, as though he was entirely divorced from it and not a significant contributor.
C.) I see now in 2019 his ideas being played out in the mainstream culture, as though we had followed the course correctly. But in my view, it's gone completely astray, the "progressive" reprogramming out of ideology is itself become much more ideological and presented as novel, but appears to be a dumbed down less novel less virtueous more authoritative entirely politicized version of McKenna's ideas given decades ago.
D.) His contempt for the western culture he grew out of and desire to just "not give a hoot" about it and desire to eat some mushrooms obliterate it for the novel and chaotic is dangerous and misguided solution. "This is hell" he states decisively, almost nefariously, referring to western culture at the time he was speaking. Apparently no matter how far you dive into the psychedelic realm you can't expand out enough to experience, to name one example. Hitler is always brought up as well he should but Stalin is hardly a footnote despite the tens of millions murdered in the Solviet union. "Yeah well he was terrible but that wasn't real socialism, it was a fluke" usually is all the person cares to include in that history lesson. Yeah well, I'm sure if it was only you running the show it would have been been all peaches and roses given how you've managed to change paradigms and she'd ideology completely. (Sarcasm) no he had it damn good. That racism sexism homophobia and PC stuff is a threat and ruining diversity and great thinkers, compelled speech by social and criminal law, Twitter wars, and great thinkers (Shapiro, Jordan b peterson who I consider the yang to mckenna/alan Watts yin)being chased off college campuses in the name of diversity and compassion and anti fascism is the equivelant had the entire country all lost their shit over the mushroom worshipping pagan satanist mckenna and he would been on the paper and the whole psychedelic community demonized(which they were and I suppose you could say still are due to the illegality of it,) with hit pieces and college students chasing him out of his talks and administration creating rules that apply only to him and major retailers banning his book. Progressive had hit mainstream culture and yet it feels less novel and really regressive in actuality. Not blaming McKenna but I wish the woke were as woke as they claim to be cause the past few years have been a hell of a wake up call, personally.

  3. Terence was brilliant. He had a supreme facility with the English language and storytelling. His use of plant substances and their derivatives to alter the doors of perception was bold. I wish that he still walked among us, I liked to listen to his take on a broad range of topics.

But he always had a poison-pill in his monologue. In this discussion he reveals (around 43 min) his contempt for "western culture". I would defy him to find a better cultural operating system. One that yields greater personal liberty, greater compassion, greater freedom to discuss these topics than western culture. He could not. Western culture is not perfect, but it is DYNAMIC and changing. 98% of the cultures on earth are harmful to the planet or to each other. Poverty (a state of mind) is extremely harmful to our planet. Communism (a state of government) is far more dangerous to people and the planet.

TM spent a good portion of each lecture pandering to his typically stoned audience. I cannot believe that someone so gifted actually believed half of what he said.

  5. Science still cannot explain where ideas come from within cultures lol, all the more reason to listen to Terence

  6. McKenna always fails when he brings biology into things. I don't know why that is, maybe he just doesn't bother to read that deeply into biology, or perhaps he just wants things to support his theories and therefore ignores that which doesn't, but once again he fails here. He says that after the great asteroid, it took only 65 million years for the Earth to develop as much novelty as had been achieved in 3 billion years before the asteroid hit. Well, that's just not true. The 3 billion years started from scratch. But not everything was pulverized by the asteroid as he states. Life didn't start out again from scratch. Some species of animals and plants did survive it, and that fact alone can explain why complex new life was able to re-evolve so quickly after the asteroid by comparison to the time it took before.

  7. So, if culture is a….manifestation of a series of variables, it depends on what variables…the individual perceives to be noteworthy. Certain cultures encourage creativity, artistry and intellectual achievement (Renaissance period; Harlem Renaissance; Musical cities such as Nairobi, Kinshasa, New York, Atlanta, Addis Ababa, Paris, Lisbon, etc), certain cultures encourage equanimity, transcendence, introspection, meditation (Eastern philosophies; Buddhism, etc), and the list goes on. Each culture has certain notions you can learn from and adapt from. My culture is an amalgamation of different cultures and customs from different geographical locations.

  8. This guy is like no other. I'd like to think myself a philosopher but I am nothing yet to him. I love Terence.

  9. Why is the audio always shitty? Just when I want to share to the world I'm held back. Phish had better mics back in the early 90's.

  10. around 8:50 he is talking about how there are TWENTY known planets outside our solar system… and his prediction about there being exponentially more was absolutely correct and is now accepted as fact.

  11. Drugs are teachers from a "template reality " from plant kingdom which have a more unified sense of reality …They can teach you to be high(vibration) like many things in universe…..The point is if you learn and allow that high state and you learn to maintain this high state naturally through balance ,there will be no need for the teacher to hang on I.e. no addiction. However the teacher (drugs/shrooms) might be forcefully held to give a high every time without self responsibility leaving a natural low after drugs…
So take it once, twice or thrice and then u should learn to get that state on your own in your own consciousness.

  12. Now can we discus what he is saying and less on the psychedelics? 14:00 Novelty theory and his argument that its a valid model for discussion.
