Corporate Volunteering | #LearnWithParqa

hey everybody welcome back to learn with parka I'm Chanel I'm Kelly and we're here as part of our summer series taking this step back to bring you a new way to grow your staffing and recruiting firm outside of digital marketing tips and tricks so there's nothing we've been talking all about company culture and how to boost internal morale and get your employees excited to come to work everyday and give back and recognize and all those good things that matter so much in the day to day so last week we talked about a fun committee and what that is and how you can get a group of your employees together to plan regular company outings and team get-togethers happy hours all that good stuff and this week we're actually going to be talking about a volunteer committee so Kelly talk to us about what we do in our volunteer committee and how staffing and recruiting new firms can apply that to what they're doing in the day to day absolutely so very similar to a fun committee with a volunteer committee you can ask a few people to raise their hand and say yes I want to be in charge of helping to create some activities that we can do together as a company so this can look something like having a quarterly outing going to somewhere like Feed My Starving Children or doing a neighborhood cleanup and this can even involve families so if they want to bring children or a spouse or whatever that might look like it's really just a way to give back to the community around you and show show your gratitude and help in that way it could also have to do with what you do as a company so as a staffing or recruiting firm you know a lot about interview skills and resume tips and things like that so there are multiple organizations such as best prep that partner with a lot of different school and adult groups to help them with resume skills and you can always volunteer with them they'll send you an email lets you know when they need help for those interview prep situations in addition I would recommend partnering with one or two maybe three local nonprofits so for us an example of that would be Dress for Success this is an international organization that helps women that have come from difficult situations helps them get back into the professional working world interview attire so equipping them with attire head-to-toe at no cost giving them interview skills giving them emotional intelligence classes everything they need to land a job and keep the jobs and really better their life so you know why don't you tell them about how every year we host an event for that organization yeah so we host one event every year that's our annual fundraiser for Dress for Success and a couple other charitable organizations and we really float out of the water we have food and beverage we have live music we have a silent auction and a live auction we have tons of people from our local community donate items to be put in that silent auction and we also have speakers come in and sometimes we actually have members from on the Dress for Success organization the women who have actually benefited from the services and they're now back on their feet talking about yes they helped me with this and this and this and it look what it's done for me I now run my own business or I've been employed for five or ten years and it's just such such powerful stories that give back to your employees too because they know that we're pouring in this time volunteering and donating our money and our time and our resources ultimately to better other's lives and and it really just puts their money where your mouth is that yes charity is important to us and giving back to our community that has been so good to us in importance to us so volunteer committees are a great way to get boost that company morale and improve your retention for your topic boys definitely so that's what we've got for you this week next week we're going to talk about your physical office space and things that you can do to really make that a great experience for your employees but in the meantime reach out to Kelly or myself on LinkedIn and we'd love to hear from you love to hear your questions and yeah we will see you next week
