HEROES WITH THE 15TH ANNUAL
COMMEMORATIVE RIDE. AMERICAN LEGION RIDERS WILL BE
ROARING THROUGH JEFFERSON
COUNTY, HONORING THOSE WHO MAKE
THE ULTIMATE SACRIFIE.>>WE WILL HAVE SOMEWHERE IN THE
NEIGHBORHOOD OF 100 TO 130 BIKES
RIDING. CHIP JOHN BURKE HONORS HIS
FATHER, A NAVY VETERAN, BY
HELPING ORGANIZE THE 90 MILE
9/11 MEMORIAL RIDE EACH YEAR.>>WE HONOR THOSE THAT PASSED. WE HONOR FIRST RESPONDERS, A
WE HONOR THE TROOPS THAT HAVE
GONE OVER AND LOST SINCE THEN TO
PROTECT OUR FREEDOMS. SHERI: THE ROUTE BEGINS HERE AT
THE NEWEST AMERICAN LEGION POST,
205, IN CLAY/TRUSSVILLE. IT HEADS NORTH THROUGH JEFFERSON
COUNTY AND ENDS IN FAIRFIELD, AT
ARMY VETERAN BRUCE CHANEY’S POST

SHIELD. SHERI: SOMBER, YET HEART-WARMING
FOR TONY BERENOTTO TOO. A 24-YEAR ARMY VETERAN, AND
COMMANDER OF POST 205.>>WE ALL REMEMBER HOW CLOSE THE
COUNTRY BECAME AFTER THAT. SHERI: AND THAT PATRIOTISM STILL
STRONG BETWEEN THE SIX POSTS IN
JEFFERSON COUNTY, PUTTING
TOGETHER THIS RIDE WHICH
BENEFITS OTHER VETERANS AND
THEIR FAMILIES.>>WE REMEMBER THE FIR
RESPONDERS THAT ARE STIL
SUFFERING TODAY FROM SOME OF THE
UNSEEN WOUNDS THAT THEY RECEIVED
THAT DAY. THERE ARE MILITARY MEMBERS THAT
ARE STILL BEING LOST IN FAR OFF
COUNTRIES LIKE AFGHANISTAN AND
IRAQ TO THIS DAY, AND THE
FAMILIES AND THE COMMUNITIES
THAT SACRIFICE BECAUSE OF THOSE PEOPLE BEING GONE. SHERI: REGISTRATION FOR THE 9/11
COMMEMORATIVE RIDE WILL BEGIN AT
9:30 THIS SUNDAY MORNING, THAT’S
SEPTEMBER 8. ALSO IN THE RIDE IS $15 DOLLARS
PER RIDER. ANOTHER $5 DOLLARS PER
PASSENGER. ALL OF THE PROCEEDS WILL FUND
PROJECTS TO HELP LOCAL VETERANS
