他拍2000多張照片,記錄三峽6年巨變 His over 2,000 Pictures Record the Grand and Magical Changes of the Three Gorges

The situation of the Three Gorges at that time Was really surrealistic The environment totally changed. The people disappeared and the city faded away The past and the present intertwined (My name is) Yan Changjiang. ‘Yan’ means ‘color’ And ‘Changjiang’ refers to the Yangtze River I grew up by the banks of Yangtze River Now I work in Guangzhou Our generation went to college in the 1980s We generally have a sense of patriotism I used to be a journalist In around 1998 I turned to photography In 2002 because the demolition for the Three Gorges project was about to start The area where the Three Gorges dam was constructed is basically where I was born The culture and historical relics from the times of Qu Yuan And those lovely people faded away in front of you Suddenly I got emotional I had indeed never seen such grand history and reality Since 2002 I began taking pictures of the Three Gorges dam for five or six years Basically, I followed the Three Gorges project (And selected) the period of construction, completion and flooding Those cities were about to pulled down or even blown up So we needed to carry out an emergent shooting From the east to the west From Hubei to Chongqing A pregnant woman took a boat Going down from the mountains And she delivered on the boat before she could make it to the bank The baby was born before my eyes There was no place for the infant, so they put it on a Mahjong table in the end The child He picked up the plastic sheets at the wharf And wrapped himself tightly A group of children were running at the foot of the Wu Mountains And the town was about to disappear This was at the Wu Gorge The captain was only seventeen or eighteen years old, this boy He led us through such a difficult journey From his posture and eyes You can tell he would definitely grow into a mature man in the future Actually, people living along the Yangtze River are not ordinary They have special temperament In Sichuan dialect, it’s called gengzhi (frank) And I would say they are also unrestrained They are understanding And very kind to people They are even poets In Dachang A young girl offered to be my guide And when we parted the next day, she shed tears And we have no contact since then An old man sitting at the opposite of me ate elegantly with a top hat He told me he was a sailor on the Yangtze River The Luoqi Town was about to be pulled down So he came to have a look at it Daning River in front of the Gate
Dachang Town, Wushan County 2003 I worked on the documentary photography for over a year When they were going to disappear in front of me I was in misery The first comfort for myself was in the form of a black box But in September, 2006 When there was another flooding I couldn’t bear it I needed more strength So I just hung myself there I want to be with the mountains and water forever That’s what I meant I shot some scenes The stone, the pavilion or the stage There was the Yangtze River Bridge or boats in the background It was a beautiful scene combining history and the present In 2008, the earthquake hit Wenchuan To some extent the Three Gorges project was almost finished Something bigger happened and required our attention So I stopped I’ve used about 2,000 negatives They (the pictures) are rich in color The medium format is sedate And I must bend And lean forward to take the picture Lately due to the exhibition I officially returned to the Yangtze River for the first time I kneeled down naturally And kowtowed to the river That’s my river I mix the social changes of our nation in the past decades Into my pictures in a distinct way I hope that even after several hundred years They can give people the feeling

  3. Splendid, I really enjoyed it!, See this New Album 'Monish Jasbird – Death Blow', channel link www.youtube.com/channel/UCv_x5rlxirO-WKjLIyk6okQ?sub_confirmation=1 , doo check 🙂

  4. I'm in tears. I grew up on the Yangtze river in Chongqing. My cousins and my dad and his brothers used to swim in the river.
