Kindly accept my greetings! Ram Ram ! Today is the 30th day (and the last day) of this series – World of Words. And the word for today is ‘Raashtrvad’ (Nationalism). A lot of discussion happens pertaining to this subject. Also, somewhere the 2019 election is also getting completely based on nationalism. But, what does ‘nationalism’ mean? In English language, the word ‘nation’ is derived from a Latin word ‘natio’ and nationalism means pertaining to the nation. It also means a belief or ideology that holds one’s nation as best amongst all. But, in India, the meaning of this word should be seen in another context. The word ‘nation’ means a geographical and political unit which has same food habits and dressing manners same language and history; same religion and ideology. But, India has diversity since times immemorial. We have to accept the fact that our society is a multi-ethnic society. But, in spite of many religions, sects and ideologies, all of us can be together as ‘One nation’. Nationalism also means believing our nation as the best; and not compromising on national values. It also means working always for national unity and integrity; making this unity and integrity the basis of our life. The belief of not accepting any other nation’s financial, political, ideological dominance is also included in the definition of nationalism. Some people construe the meaning of nationalism in a negative manner. This is not right. Securing the unity and integrity of the nation is not a negative ideology. Believing one’s nation as the best amongst all is also not negative as we are not maligning any other nation. Having faith in the national values is also not a mistake. So, nationalism and nationalists are not negative concepts. But, some people are under the influence of Western definitions of nationalism: and so they are unable to see Indian nationalism from Indian perspective So they link the definition of nationalism with bigotism. But, Indian Nationalism ordinarily means protecting Indian values, history, culture; and not accepting any other nation’s financial, social , political and ideological dominance over India. The attempt to break and come out of such dominance is also nationalism So, there is nothing wrong in becoming a nationalist. Infact it is a good thing. Now, many people link nationalism and Hinduism and propagate that being nationalist is anti-Islam, anti-Muslim, anti- Christian, anti -Parsi. Such people state that nationalists want India to become a fascist country like Hitler wished for Germany. This is totally a wrong concept. In Indian society Genetically, Indians are loving people. However, no society can bear any insult of dignity in any manner. If a person keeps losing dignity for long time, he feel resentment. This resentment gives rise to aggression which leads to revolt in society at least for some duration of time and then ultimately peace is established. So when Indian people define nationalism, it’s not about any majority-minority, or against any linguistic or ethnic group. However, some people are defining this word in a different manner. Let’s ignore such people. They are not even 0.00001% of the society. Let them talk whatever they want; but you become a nationalist. Our nation is a comprehensive unit; where every person living in India, should love India and loving India, is an integral part of nation. Today, ‘World of Words’ has completed 30 days. I hope you liked it. I also request you to share these videos to the maximum. So that positive information reaches people who are seeking positivity. When negative people spread negativity in society, they create a name for themselves very quickly. But, positive people don’t wish to spread positivity. This is not good. So let negative people do their work, we will do our work. I believe there are lots of positive people in our society, but they should propagate and share positivity. I also request my youtube viewers to subscribe our youtube channel. I will be replying to some queries in community. And here, I will be able to answer only those viewers who have subscribed the channel. So, please press the bell icon to subscribe to the channel. So, whenever I write something or reply to any question, it will directly reach you. So, today on the 30 day celebration of words comes to an end. Stay happy We will meet again in some other series.
